  • Maintain close contact with the team, preparing reports and papers to present to clients. Day to day tasks include asset valuations, updates on markets, finding manager ratings and other insights.

  • Yes. My team in particular was very proactive in providing tasks for me to do, allowing me to work on a wide variety of papers.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • My line manager was incredibly supportive and present during my internship. I was also assigned a 'buddy', who was a recent graduate, who also provided support throughout my internship. I always felt comfortable asking questions, and knew who to turn to if I had any questions or problems. I was able to have informal chats with lots of team members, providing me with lots of valuable insights on the industry.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The culture within my team was incredibly welcoming. I took part in multiple socials and team lunches, which allowed me to integrate quickly. The atmosphere feels very relaxed and flexible.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed my internship a lot. I was able to hear more about other parts of the industry and different career paths, which I found to be incredibly helpful. The work was constant but not too overwhelming, and I feel like I was able to learn a lot in my short time at the company.

  • Make sure you educate yourself about the insurance industry/pensions. Be aware that if you dislike presenting, this is not the role for you.
