Overview
As an intern I have attended some client meetings, some underwriting meetings in the Lloyds building, and have helped with creating broking notes for the brokers and do admin things and endorsements online.
Skills
I have learnt a lot of Insurance language and have developed my excel skills and communication skills since I have met many new people everyday. Teamwork skills too since we had a group intern project to do.
Responsibilities
As much as I can be given as an intern with no professional qualifications. I have helped with what I can and gone to the meetings that have been appropriate for me to attend.
Support & Guidance
It was easy to communicate with my manager and I got enough guidance to start things by myself, where I could just ask questions on what I didnt know.
Culture
I think the culture is very social and its a lively atmosphere. However, in my team at least, there was a noticeable age difference between me and everyone else since there are no grad scheme people in the team currently. This made it a little bit difficult to relate to the team members so I sometimes felt left out but it was unavoidable.
Your Impressions
I think it was very fun and interesting, since I wasnt sat at a desk all day. It was very social with the other interns and it was truly fun to come into the office.
Yes
Just be a nice person and active listener. Talk to other interns and dont be afraid to ask for more work.
