Overview
I am an intern, focusing on strategy consulting within the insurance industry. I work on client-facing projects, where we provide strategic recommendations for clients so that they can grow and improve as a business.
Skills
Yes, I have developed a wide range of skills. Specifically, I have learnt a lot about consulting, and the frameworks and methods it deploys. Also, the internship has allowed me to gain insights into the insurance industry and how it operates. I have been able to progress in my abilities to use Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint.
Responsibilities
Yes I was able to contribute to client facing projects and in some instances meet the client. I was able to add meaning to the work at hand. Obviously I was given a lot of support and guidance, but I was given meaningful tasks.
Support & Guidance
My team fully supported me during my time here, and would keep in contact with me throughout the day to make sure I was on task. Everyone was also really open to just generally sharing any advice that they had for me. There were never any points where I was out of my depth and there was no-one that I could go to for help.
Culture
The company culture was very welcoming. The atmosphere between interns was not competitive either - it was people genuinely just trying to learn from each other.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship. The content itself I found really insightful and it allowed me to cement my long-term career choices. I think the people definitely made the experience too. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and made me feel like I really belonged in the team.
Yes
I would definitely research the wider industry, specifically to do with industry trends. Specifically, you should be able to show why not only Aon, but the specific stream of work. In my interview, I got a lot of questions related to "Why Consulting?".
