    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Log on - reply to all emails and teams chat. Usually allocated a project which is on a decently long term scale therefore employees are expected to be proactive and complete these projects in a timely manner. Therefore day to day is usually continuing on the project allocated to you. Can occasionally be liasing with other teams or BA or traders on their requirements but mostly is dedicated to back-end development using Java and SpringBoot in intellij

  • I developed skills in Java and Python for designing and implementing high-performance, globally distributed trading systems. I gained expertise in relational databases like SQL Server and Oracle, and honed my ability to produce exemplary code and deliver projects on time. I enhanced my problem-solving abilities, collaborated with client-facing teams, and worked directly with users to develop sophisticated applications. Additionally, I acquired skills in troubleshooting, handling high-pressure situations, and documenting procedures and FAQs Including design patterns and Domain driven design principles

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • During my internship at Jefferies, I was given significant responsibility, participating in all stages of the software development life cycle (SDLC). I utilized Java and Python to design, implement, and release high-performance, globally distributed trading systems. I collaborated closely with client-facing teams to ensure our solutions met user needs and worked directly with users to develop and enhance sophisticated applications. Additionally, I handled high-pressure situations, troubleshooting issues in production systems, and proactively developed both tactical and strategic solutions to prevent future problems, demonstrating my ability to manage critical tasks effectively.
