The Role
It was a fantastic opportunity and I absolutely loved working here. I had high expectation and it really ticked all the boxes.
Everyone in my departament was great and helpful. All of my colleagues were really knowledgeable and willing to share their experience.
Both my manager and my coach were really involved in providing me with support and I've always received all the help I needed and as fast as possible when I was stuck. Also, their involvement with the academic staff from my university was great and it led to interesting projects.
I've never been given the opportunity to get bored. At times I felt that I couldn't keep up with the work, but overall i would say there was an almost perfect balance. The schedule usually alternated between actual work and meetings/training without feeling repetitive.
I was actually surprised by how much responsibility I was given even from the very first months. It was a bit scary as I was afraid not to fail and dissapoint, but I guess in the end it turned out to be OK.
I consider I have acquired extensive skills in the field, more than I would have ever learned in university. Working in such a large company along very experienced engineers was well worth the effort and I hope to pursue a career in the same field. Thanks to the placement, I think I'll really have an easy time doing my final year project as I have gained most of the necessary skills.
The Company
The atmosphere was never tense and everyone was laid back. Ocasional jokes made it a fun environment to work in.
The placement was surprisingly well organised considering I was the first student in that department.
I was trained in a variery of areas and even if some were not directly related to my role it only helped broaden my skills
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Car
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
It is definitely is a prospective company and I would like to work with them.
The Culture
I know there was a good social scene although I did not live close to the work place and I was unable to take part.
Again, I was comuting so I do not really know what the prices were like. From the ocasional shopping I've done in the region, I thought they were decent.
One of the main complaints of colleagues was an absence of nightlife although I can't say I've missed it.
Sure, from community involvement to introducing young children to engineering there is a wide array of opportunities for activities outside work.
