Overview
I will help the team create pilots that gather valuable information on what we develop further. This can be in person, online, or even by survey. Taking what we have then learnt to the rest of the business to see if it aligns with our goals. We take our customers very seriously and they are at the heart of everything we do.
Skills
I've learnt: - General business practices, like standard practise of communication and independent (autonomous) working, and the best way I work. It has been extremely valuable interacting with all departments of a large organisation to understand how they work together. I've also learned a lot about data analysis, innovation practices, app development, how to run a pilot and how to use things like HubSpot.
Responsibilities
I have been given complete responsibility to work on pilots that I'm interested in outside of tasks that are mandatory. Over 75% of my time is working on areas of development I would like to look into. At MO, you simply have to ask to be a part of a project, and they can make it happen.
Support & Guidance
Support has been exceptional over the course of my time at MO. It started with regular meetings with my mentor, buddy and manager. Which still happen 8 weeks into my placement. The team is very open, and I can call and ask someone for help whenever they are free. They are also very open to this.
Culture
The company culture is amazing and is truly embedded in what they do. They always put the customers first and create an environment where all opinions are valid. As said before, the support I receive is very good. I couldn't fault what they did first to induct me smoothly but then to keep me in the loop with wider business operations to help my own work.
Your Impressions
I enjoy my placement a lot, and it provides a lot more insight than studying would. It's the lived experiences that give you an idea of how the corporate world works.
Yes
Motability really allows you to be yourself no matter who you are. There is a lot of support and you need to ask for it. Communication is probably the number one skill you need to do well. As networking with others helps your own work stream and embeds you deep into the knowledge.
