    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • As an intern I shadow and assist team activity and assigned projects. Key experience gained includes: • Reviewing and assessing whether products and procedures comply with the Financial Conduct Authority’s regulatory requirements. An example is reviewing the repricing policy for a Nationwide product to ensure compliance with the FCA’s principles; namely Principle 12 the Consumer Duty to support vulnerable members. • Regulatory research and insight gathering to produce high-level easy to engage with, clear and concise Digests of regulatory changes for senior stakeholders and business functions. An example is summarising the new regulatory regime for the reasonable provision of cash deposit and withdrawal services. • Reviewing pricing proposals ahead of formal governance to consider regulatory and conduct risks, collaborating with team members to inform upward briefing points.

  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Nationwide
  • If you are unsure whether to apply for a role within financial services because it is not a typical role for your academic background I suggest just applying. I am a law graduate and the most typical route for me is to go to a law firm but working at Nationwide has given me much more legal exposure and responsibility than a law firm would.
