Overview
I shadowed graduates in each team, I read and pulled information from leases, I wrote a valuation report, I pulled comparable's and EPC's for properties, I filled out Rates reports and created marketing brochures.
Skills
I have learnt so much, especially about leases. I can now read and lease and gather the relevant information as well as understand the language. I have also learnt about business rates which previously I had no knowledge on.
Responsibilities
Responsibility differs within each team, although overall I felt like I was given tasks where I felt like I had responsibility. Including reports and databases for clients.
Support & Guidance
At the end of the internship now I would say there has been a lot of support however, at the start I struggled being on a rotation, perhaps its an idea to have one point of contact for the rotation students at graduate level to help support them.
Culture
Everyone is very friendly, welcoming and easy to talk too.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it to a great extent, however, I would have loved to get out of the office more. Perhaps when organising the rotations look at the diary so all the interns get to get out of the office. The other intern on rotation was out on sites every week multiple times whereas I have been out once. I am aware that it is down to the diary of the departments and a bit of luck but perhaps something to look into in the future.
Yes
You can never ask too many questions. Just talk to everyone, try especially with the graduates and other interns as this can lead to social events with them.
