Overview
Good experience as an intern. People are very warm and friendly. The industry as a whole lacks diversity but the company is taking efforts to improve it. However, it is still a long way to go in my opinion. I found the job extremely interesting but the experience in the internship was heavily dependant on the team that you are placed in. I believe the internship can be more structured and more efforts can be taken to engage all the interns together with activities.
Skills
The real estate industry is a very closed industry but I found Savills extremely welcoming to me as a non cognate. I was able to pick things up quickly and settle well within the team over the 4 weeks. I have learnt how surveyor value properties and was able to get hands on experience of building an excel model with my director. That was actually the highlight of my internship for me. I would have liked a longer internship to learn more.
Responsibilities
yes, I have learnt how surveyor value properties and was able to get hands on experience of building an excel model with my director. The company can improve in this area by organising a longer internship. The internship is only 18 days (after the compulsory annual leave) and the first week is the time you settle in and the last week you are wrapping things up, so its quite a short time to take any actual responsibility, especially in commercial.
Support & Guidance
Good.
