Overview
Using data visualisation software to create dashboards for stakeholders. Meeting with Stakeholders to understand their wants and needs. Regular stand-ups with team. Development days with the early careers team. Working on a project with all the placement students.
Skills
Yes! Learning to use Power BI & OAS. Improved DAX & excel use. Presentation skills and building relationships/communicating with stakeholders. Confidence in attending and participating in meetings. Carbon Literacy knowledge. Use of project management tools for prioritisation/organisation.
Responsibilities
Yes, but gradually. It was done so I was supported throughout, avoiding anything overwhelming, but still being able to contribute and be properly involved in projects.
Support & Guidance
Lots! The placement is well structured through the assignment of a buddy, mentor and manager (as well as having the early careers team), which meant there were plenty of people to ask questions to and gain advice!
Culture
Positive, inclusive, caring and very customer focused!
Your Impressions
I am enjoying my placement at MO. I have already learnt a lot that will be so beneficial in choosing and following a future career and gained a lot of technical & soft skills. I have enjoyed having a group of other placement students, both across the company & at the office to share the experience with!
Yes
Your attitude and communication are likely more important than technical skills, definitely at the beginning!
