    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I was tasked with completing valuation reports, which largely involved identifying and analysing comparables. I conducted agent calls to ask for valuation advice and attended many inspections across London throughout the month. There were also departmental overview talks for the interns throughout the month as well as a few networking events.

  • I have developed my communication skills, particularly over the phone through agent calls. I have developed upon my analytical skills, learning to weigh up differing factors to determine the best comparables.

  • Yes I was tasked with completing agent calls from the first day and interacting with clients on inspections. I also completed valuation reports largely on my own.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • The whole team were very helpful and answered all my questions. My graduate mentor was constantly checking up on me and always very happy to help with everything and explain things. The careers team were also very helpful and checked up on us throughout.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The Finsbury Circus office has a much quieter atmosphere than the Margret Street Office and is not as social. There was a friendly atmosphere in my team, but quiet as lots of people on annual leave.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I really enjoyed the responsibility I was given and although challenging, I found the work interesting and felt I was doing meaningful tasks. I enjoyed being taken on inspections across London, which was also a good opportunity to get to know my team members.

  • The application process is very competitive, so be well prepared and conduct research into the company and real estate trends. Ask lots of questions to everyone you meet.
