The Role
The work was varied and the overall responability given to myself made this year a brilliant part in my development.
The colleagues counted myself as an equal and would re-assign work to myself as if I was a graduate employee.
There was a structured supervisor scheme, and monthly/quaterly reviews alongside managing my development with an IMechE tutor/
My workload consisted of a major project which is expected to last 1 year+, and I had lots of little issues comign in daily which I managed myself.
I was counted as a full engineer and was invovled in all aspects of the team. Several investigations I satrted myself so others in the team would ask myself for further information.
The material analsysis I have learnt this year has been more enjoyable to learn than at Uni, and the engine components and electronics knowedge have grown ten-fold this year, which should make my further years at university more applicable.
The Company
The atmosphere in my department was amazing. Everyone was really knowledable, good humour, yet professional also.
The placement scheme was easy to apply for, but the responsiveness of the company before starting placement was not as good as expected.
Cummins consider yourself to be a full employee and invest heavily in training programmes, laptops, mobiles, company trips, team building.

Cummins are such a large organisation it means that a continueed career with Cummins is a definite.
The Culture
I lived with four other students from Cummins and the atmosphere was that of any other year at university.
Rent and food/drink were same as anywhere else.
I lived on the outside of Rugby so often went to the local pub, but town was about an hour walk.
There is a sports and social club, 5-aside football, and others to get involved with.
