Overview
Morning meeting notes, trade ideas, networking with other desks, group speaker events & quizzes, projects for desk, trading simulation games, research & admin work for desk
Skills
Developed my coding and excel skills, as well as soft skills developed through networking
Responsibilities
Yes a good level of responsibility - it takes time to understand the products and you are not certified to actually trade but lots of teams like to actually trade your trade ideaas and by the end of the internship I was doing the initial pricings of quotes from clients before another team member would check it and send it to the client
Support & Guidance
You receive both a buddy and a mentor - a buddy is a junior employee and a mentor is more senior - who are not on your team and you can go to for any type of query. HR also very helpful & supportive. There were also two heads of equities interns who were similarly very approachable and helpful
Culture
Friendly, collaborative culture - in general people are very receptive to you asking to shadow them and learn more about the wider business. Seems like one of the kindest environments in banking
Your Impressions
Thoroughly enjoyable experience - it was challenging and demanding but if you like the work and are ready to learn and work hard then this is the place to be for a markets internship
Yes
Application process fairly smooth but a lot of luck involved -
