  • Rotating around the trading floor, writing market updates and providing comments on recent developments in markets to the firm's traders and clients. Pitching trade ideas to full-time analysts.

  • I have significantly developed my skills in data analysis, as well as learning the basics of Excel VBA. Additionally, I have been able to get a deeper understanding of financial markets, as well as the products traded within Scotiabank's global markets business.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Responsibility given can vary depending on the specific rotation, while capital markets is naturally a tougher environment to take on responsibilities as an intern compared to other parts of the bank, I was able to write some commentary that was subsequently sent to the bank's clients, which was a great opportunity to showcase my attention to detail and understanding of markets.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I really enjoyed my internship and felt like I learned an enormous amount both in soft and technical skills. I was also able to make great connections with the other interns and full-time employees on the floor.
