Overview
Our internship was based on a shift leader role, however my role on a day to day basis included exploring the retail business further experiencing other parts of the business expanding my knowledge.
Skills
I have learnt a lot about how to network, ways to develop relations and communication with other peers. I have been able to develop my personal and working skills further to progress in development pathways.
Responsibilities
Yes we were given a variety of responsibilities during the internship more store based specifically than a role based responsibility from the internship.
Support & Guidance
This is where I felt the internship fell short, the guidance and communication received from those organising the internship was very minimal and not structured. We were left very much to our own devices and up to the description of our store managers in helping to build a programme for the duration of the internship.
Culture
It was good, these aspects where not a worry and a part of the internship that worked well.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my internship mostly due to the connection and understanding I was able to build whilst on the programme. Therefore really enjoyed it, but do however feel if this understanding wasn’t found the internship outcome would have been very different.
Yes
Keep an open mind and be aware of constant change the programme isn’t fit for structure and has lots of variations to the same programme.
