Overview
In the early weeks of the job, it was mainly training for most of the days, with self study exercises and review sessions to follow. As the training passed, your buddies (newest grads on the scheme) would delegate you client work to do with their help. As the weeks went on, client work that was picked up, was able to be completed on a more independent basis.
Skills
-A strong client focus -Excel skills -Communication via Email and teams -Time management
Responsibilities
Yes, when I had shown I could complete tasks independently and to the correct standard, I was delegated more client work with higher responsibility
Support & Guidance
The initial training was incredibly supportive, with lots of early career leaders making themselves available to char and help. Also people in my direct team in Bristol were always happy to chat and talk through anything I was struggling with, especially my direct buddies who were constantly checking in.
Culture
Company culture was lovely, a certain few people in the office made small gestures an extra special effort to get everyone involved in non-working activities, eg pub trips at lunch and in offices games. This really makes a difference as in this field of work, everyone is working so hard and it can be easy to not take breaks/ burn out. Also, you can notice that not everyone takes them selves so seriously, everyone can have a laugh and be light hearted. One thing to mention, that since the hybrid working has become so popular, the office does have some very quiet days.
Your Impressions
Thoroughly enjoyed the process. It was a great mix between learning concepts and gaining hands on experience. I was surrounded by people who also really enjoyed their job, which is always a good insight to my potential career.
