    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

    • Eight week internship, split between the Actuarial Consulting and Investment Consulting teams. Predominantly worked with Defined Benefit pension schemes. Examples of work include calculating transfer-values, and drafting Investment Monitoring Reports.

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

    • Yes - aside from the four assessed tasks, almost all of my tasks was work for clients. However, this is within the safety net that all work is checked, and the support of your mentors for both teams.

    • We received significant formal training, and the entire team is always happy to help if you are stuck.

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

    • Warm and welcoming - an extremely supportive culture in the office, where everyone is eager to help out. Many socials organised - both office and firm wide - which helped a lot with getting to know everyone.

    • Completely - the analytical (problem-solving) nature of the work was very rewarding, and the friendly and supportive nature of everyone made me look forward to coming into work every day!
