Responsibilities
The internship was mostly an assessment from the company / the team. The point as an intern is to learn how a trading floor makes money, to discover financial products, to network on the floor and in the end to get a full time offer if successful. I was not given much responsibility and was not involved in clients discussions as I need to pass regulations for that.
Support & Guidance
Strong support from HR with relevant answers consistently within a few minutes. Strong guidance from manager with weekly goals on Mondays, feedback sessions every two weeks. Strong cohesion between summer interns as well. I didn't feel any competition with other interns but rather friendship and support.
Culture
Push us to be the best. Excellence. I was surprised to see that JPM's values are really implemented on a day-to-day. I could see that every day: diversity, inclusion, teamwork...
Your Impressions
The internship was hard and very demanding. I was consistently out of my comfort zone. But I do believe this is the best way to learn and grow. In only 2 months, I learnt as much as I would have learnt in more than one year otherwise. I really recommend this internship to any ambitious student interested by a career in financial markets.
