Overview
Analytics involves learning functions on the Terminal and truly understanding client types and their needs. This is typically done in a classroom environment. Alongside this you also learn about other products that Bloomberg offers and their functionalities. Sales involves shadowing, attending meetings, and interacting with clients both online and in person. You have a lot of responsibility to book meetings and help clients with their workflows. Finally, there are also 4 projects to complete including a webinar, innovation, portfolio and role play.
Skills
I have developed knowledge of the terminal, and especially my sales skills in the client facing role. As well as this, I have developed teamwork and collaboration through the projects.
Responsibilities
Yes, we were told to reach out to clients during the second week of being here. We led meetings online and in person.
Support & Guidance
We had mentorship across all of the departments. I had an analytics buddy who was incredibly helpful with preparing for final interviews and with other challenges.
Culture
Incredibile! Everyone is open to talk to you and you can learn something from everyone you meet. The flat structure also helps with this as you are able to directly contact your manager and leaders.
Your Impressions
This internship taught me so much about the corporate world. This included interactions with clients, interactions with managers and developing soft skills. I only struggled in the first few weeks when my mentor had gone on holiday for 3 weeks and I had no other contact.
Yes
You need to be a good fit culturally- you need to understand and embody the values while you are here to connect with the other employees. Be open to talk to everyone - start in the first week and listen!
