Overview
My role involves mainly: - Understanding the Bloomberg organization, culture and more precisely the work the Sales & Analytics people do, understand the Bloomberg product offering on top of the Terminal. To do that we engaged mainly in: - Shadowing people across the firm - Discovering the firms' different departments and people by scheduling chats - Engage in Calling Campaigns (Sales and Analytics Calling Campaigns) to pitch functions and enhancements brought to the Terminal to clients - Work on various projects (4 in total) in teams of 5 interns and demonstrate our understanding of the company while leveraging on internal resources thanks to the open culture. - Participate into Training Sessions to develop our understanding of the company - Attend events and panel sessions
Skills
- Developed Sales techniques (phoning and following-up skills) - Developed an understanding of the Bloomberg Terminal and the financial concepts linked to it - Developed an understanding of the different Market Players Bloomberg serves in the financial industry
Responsibilities
In a way yes as we were given the opportunity to call clients very early in the internship which allows us to take on the responsibility of representing the Bloomberg brand. In a way the Bloomberg brand being what it is makes things much easier, but there is always a risk you can say something bad or wrong which is in a way a responsibility to represent the company faithfully and in a professional manner. We were also given the opportunity to book and go to in-person client meetings which is also a responsibility by representing the firm. Otherwise, the responsibility of discovering the firm and talking to people relies on us, so we have the responsibility to make the most out of the internship.
Support & Guidance
We could reach out to people within the company at any time if we needed guidance so we actually had a constant support and guidance if we needed it. This is the maximum level of support and guidance one can get anywhere.
Culture
Company culture and general atmosphere was great, no equivalent found to that elsewhere yet. Open culture with the possibility to reach out to (nearly) everyone within the company. Intern cohort wasn't plagued with competitiveness, very kind and safe place to work at.
Your Impressions
10/10 it's a great experience which sets serious standards for the future Great place to meet people and develop our understanding of the corporate world
Yes
Be positive, open-minded, ready to learn about the financial industry and concepts, ready to talk to many different people within the company, stay focused and be yourself.
