Overview
In Analytics, I attended classes on financial topics, where I also had the opportunity to use the skills acquired through taking tests, solving exercises and working in groups. In Sales, I mainly focused on helping my mentors and managers with communication with their clients, gathering insights on their needs, and finding potential opportunities for sales leads. The internship also involved 4 projects, where we were able to showcase the knowledge we gathered throughout our trainings.
Skills
I have developed many competencies, including the ability to call seasoned financial professionals and speak to them about complicated topics. This was possible thanks to both the training we received, but also the opportunity to learn through trial and error by calling clients weekly. I also feel that I improved my teamwork skills through the group projects that were assigned to us. Striving for a common goal makes every individual in a team collaborate better.
Responsibilities
Yes, as the internship involves being in direct contact with Bloomberg clients. Representing the leading fintech company and speaking to clients both on the phone and in person allows interns to develop under high pressure situations. The mentors and managers also provided many individual tasks that directly affected the business.
Support & Guidance
There is proper guidance and help provided throughout the internship through mentors and buddies. While at the beginning it may seem overwhelming to keep up with each point of contact an intern has within the firm, it helps provide clarity on the organizational structure of the firm.
Culture
The company culture is extremely collaborative and welcoming. Reaching out to senior managers as an intern is quite easy and the response rate is very high. I had the opportunity to meet managers that have been employees of the company for longer than I have been alive.
Your Impressions
With all the projects, social events, and other group activities provided by Bloomberg, the internship was both professional and fun, and thus extremely enjoyable. I also appreciate that the company gives a tight but manageable schedule, allowing for interns to also schedule their own activities and meetings.
Yes
Understand the company structure and culture very well, and know the products the company is selling. Ideally also talk to employees and understand what kept them at the firm.
