Overview
The customer financial services accounts receivables role involves managing a portfolio of collections, contacting clients, solving queries, responding to emails, and communicating with other teams within the company. A regular day starts with a worklist of items that need to be completed throughout the day. It includes the people to contact, email templates, phone numbers, and an overall overview of the account. Moreover, each person is assigned with a queue of tickets that need to be resolved.
Skills
I have learned about tax certificates, SAP functions particular to Bloomberg, Bloomberg's core products and services, client communication, internal functions, team work, the end to end process of an account management, accounting procedures, regulatory compliance, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Responsibilities
Yes, indeed, coming into the internship the amount of responsibility I was given came as a surprise to me which made the whole experience challenging and enriching. During the holiday season, some of the account representatives are off, and we as interns, were being assigned their tasks from the beginning of week 3. The team was very receptive to any questions which made it easier but it was definitely a steep learning curve. Having to make important phone calls having started only a couple days ago was scary but extremely rewarding and made me get comfortable with the clients quickly
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support. From a whole week of initial training to constant shadowing sessions. Whenever I had any questions the team was always willing to help. I was assigned two mentors who were always attentive of my needs
Culture
The company culture is great. Always felt very welcome and everyone was always willing to help. From the second I walk in the door I feel an extremely nice and diverse atmosphere
Your Impressions
