Overview
Day to day I work either within the Analytics department or the Sales department, completing external or internal projects, calling clients to pitch functions. Often I meet with people within the company to learn how I can progress and learn useful information, as well as attend client meetings and networking events
Skills
I have developed many soft skills, including organization and initiative, since we are given a lot of responsibility over our time and how we manage our work, as well as communication as there are many clients, fellow interns, leaders and mentors as well as people in different departments that I came into contact to which requires adaptable and strong communication. Adaptability was another skill as the business is very fast moving and evolving so you have to constantly learn to keep up. I also developed leadership and teamworking skills through various projects, and gained lots of technical knowledge of financial markets.
Responsibilities
Yes, at the beginning things were much more guided but over time we got lots of responsibility over our time and our projects, but at the same time there were always people available to speak with and help if needed.
Support & Guidance
There are several structures in place for support and guidance, and it was extremely supportive as I had two mentors, a connector and many managers and team members that are always available to support.
Culture
The company culture was extremely open and friendly, perhaps because the organizational structure is quite open and flat. There is a lot of priority placed on employee wellbeing and there are lots of great services available. The philanthropic and D&I opportunities are another great testament to the company culture. In general everyone is very proud to work at Bloomberg.
