Overview
Energy engineering, working on different projects including masterplans and campus decarbonisations. Used electrical engineering background to complete electrical work for example schematics and designing substations. Using GIS to layout electrical networks. Working with electrical and steam data. Completing cost benefit analysis for clients. Looking at sustainable energy solutions such as battery energy storage and solar pv.
Skills
During my time at BH I have developed many skills. Technical skills including lots of different widely used industry softwares, and problem solving. However, also working in a team, talking and working with clients, presentation skills, and communication skills.
Responsibilities
I was able to take on my own parts in projects, including joining and interacting in client meetings. Given enough responsibility to be challenging but manageable, with good supervision and technical support.
Support & Guidance
I had my own technical support and always had someone to reach out to for support.
Culture
Before joining BH I read online about how good the culture was and how they look after each their staff. After my placement I can only agree, the environment is great and all the staff are very welcoming and friendly.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my placement. I worked in the Leeds office where everyone was very friendly, there was a good number of people from my team there aswell. My line manager was in my best interest and gave me really interesting projects to work on.
