Overview
My day consisted of a combination of Project Management, Analytical and Process Improvement tasks and projects. I had to partake in many zoom meetings and learn how to use various new systems and softwares quickly to perform my job swiftly and correctly. I had many different kinds of tasks to work on within my team and had to learn how to work quickly and accurately. Preparation and time management are key factors to performing daily tasks well.
Skills
I have developed many interpersonal skills as well as professionalism. Working in a team has such power especially when you are able to communicate well and bounce ideas of one another. Help was always around the corner. Time management was another skill I executed whilst working there. You need to be efficient with your time and watching and seeing how individuals delicate and work with different priorities was an incredible skill to learn. There are countless things I have learnt and developed.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was. At first it was daunting, but if you put time and dedication to do the work correctly and ask questions when you need guidance - it becomes a little less daunting. Being trusted with responsibility and big tasks allowed me to place trust in myself. I never felt as though I was new, or only an intern. I appreciated this and the responsibility that was given to me. I was never given tasks without support.
Support & Guidance
I was given guidance and support throughout my internship. It was just the right amount - therefore it never felt as if I was untrusted. I had check ins with my manager on a weekly basis but was supported by her daily if I had any questions. The other members of my team were incredible mentors and I am still in awe of the way they think and process information. They provided me with their insights and guidance, never once did I feel unsupported.
Culture
I truly enjoyed the atmosphere and everything they had to offer in all ways. It was a change of pace going into an office everyday - however, it was never a struggle to go into work and I looked forward to it everyday. This is due to the fantastic culture and atmosphere there. It was also incredible to realise how culturally rich the company is. Everyone had an interesting story and brought different people. It was a great company culture full of respect for one another.
Your Impressions
This internship was life changing. Not only did it teach me a lot about myself and challenged me in a positive way, but it was an eye opening experience. I never knew about all of the different kinds of work you could do within your specific position. The opportunities you have to grow and diversify your skills is endless. I met incredible individuals along the way who have now become role models to me. I could not have enjoyed it more.
Yes
Be your authentic self. Authenticity and honesty is key and it brings a diverse culture to the company with new ideas. Be analytical and precise in your answers. When asking questions - try find out as much as you can before going to ask someone your question. Almost as if you are checking your answer but also confirming what you have put together. Always be aware of everyone’s time. It is an incredible working environment and work culture.
