Overview
During my 12-week internship with Cisco, I was assigned to the Global Field Marketing team. Here, I focused on audience acquisition and executive intelligence, where I researched and analyzed key data points to enhance our engagement strategies with top-tier customers. I collaborated closely with the Sales Teams and Field Marketing Managers to identify best practices for C-Level engagement, contributing actionable recommendations for improving our approach to targeting executives. Additionally, I participated in a cross-functional group project with fellow interns aimed at optimising key marketing vehicles to drive pipeline which concluded with a live presentation on Cisco TV, showcasing our data driven findings, insights and recommendations. Beyond my core responsibilities, I took advantage of numerous personal development opportunities, such as networking events, volunteering, and engaging in stretched projects outside my immediate team, further broadening my experience and skillset in B2B marketing and global marketing strategies.
Skills
Yes, during my internship, I significantly improved my public speaking skills through presentations and live readouts. I also developed my data analysis abilities, particularly in utilizing CRM software for audience acquisition and engagement strategies. Additionally, I enhanced my cross-cultural communication skills by collaborating with international teams and navigating diverse business environments. These experiences have broadened my skillset and prepared me for future roles in global marketing.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given a lot of responsibility during my internship. I was entrusted with researching and analyzing key data to support our executive engagement strategies, and I actively collaborated with Sales and Field Marketing teams to provide actionable insights. Additionally, I had the opportunity to take the initiative and lead projects outside of my core responsibilities, which allowed me to explore new areas and contribute more broadly to the team's objectives. This experience helped me grow both professionally and personally, as I was encouraged to take ownership of my work and pursue new challenges.
Support & Guidance
The support and guidance I received during my internship were exceptional and one of the best parts of the experience. I had an amazing program manager and mentor who provided regular 1:1s and helped create a personalised intern development plan tailored to my goals. Additionally, I was paired with a buddy who had completed the internship a few summers ago and is now on the graduate Amplify program. Their advice and guidance were invaluable. My manager and team were also highly invested in my development, offering continuous support and encouragement. Furthermore, there were ample resources and platforms available to help me upskill, which greatly enhanced my overall experience.
Culture
The atmosphere was not only collaborative but genuinely inclusive, where everyone’s ideas were valued and encouraged. A standout example of this was during our read-out trip in San Francisco, where we took part in a volunteering initiative, where I had the opportunity to contribute to packaging 10,000 meals for Rise Against Hunger, supporting families in the Philippines. This experience highlighted Cisco's strong commitment to social responsibility and made my internship incredibly rewarding.
Your Impressions

The combination of hands-on projects, supportive mentorship, and opportunities to make a real impact made it an unforgettable experience. I gained valuable skills, built meaningful relationships, and developed a deeper understanding of the industry. This internship not only solidified marketing as my career interest but also helped me grow as an individual, far exceeding my expectations.
