Overview
I support the management of the business processes that underpin the manufacture of a critical pharmaceutical drug product by maintaining existing business processes; defining and owning process training; and managing process improvement. It involves applying knowledge and skills acquired through training to transfer process data; good collaboration and written and verbal communication skills to organize calls/meetings with stakeholders; organizational skills; and importantly, flexibility.
Skills
New skills - New IT skills from the training I had to complete to be a qualified process modeler Developed: - Communication skills - Presentation skills - Collaboration skills - Flexibility
Responsibilities
A decent amount. I had to complete my training to become qualified to actually model business processes and start working which involved delivering presentations to stakeholders. I also had to offer some insight onto the whole experience to evaluate the training and the functionality of tools used in calls/ meetings.
Support & Guidance
A good amount. I had regular communication with my manager and was free to effectively ask as many questions as I wanted as well as feedback.
Culture
Positive - a great place to work. They uphold company values ranging from health to inclusivity.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed it! I found the exposure to the company invaluable. Learning more about the company, its values, its standard plant protocols, the different projects in different departments, my role and how I am contributing to the work under my department, the opportunities AstraZeneca has after I finish my internship. I was able to meet different people and also learn from them. One of the most significant things I've taken away from this experience is the development of my soft skills, especially flexibility and communication.
