Overview
My role was to help predict the amount of calls received by the customer call centre in order to inform the allocation of staff. Given the nature of the business, customer service is paramount, therefore accurate forecasting is needed to ensure the appropriate staffing levels. Additionally the team was working on a number of projects during my internship and my input was always welcome.
Skills
Yes, I have learnt about data warehousing and management, business tools such as power and coding skills. More broadly I have also learned about the role data science play into an organisation, how to collaborate and manage my time between meetings and work.
Responsibilities
Yes, the project I was assigned was left completely open ended and I liaised directly with other departments (particularly the customer care team) to direct the project.
Support & Guidance
I had fortnightly one-to-ones with my manager however he checked in with me almost daily, other members of the team were also interested in the project I was doing and often offered their insight
Culture
Yes, everyone was really friendly and welcoming throughout the organisation. I was treated like a new hire and was encouraged to attend company wide events and information sessions. This meant integration was really easy.
Your Impressions
I very much enjoyed this internship, a really great place to work where you are encouraged to flourish.
