Overview
I talk a lot with local managers and Lexus car dealers to help them meet their sales goals. I predict future sales and keep track of other important things. I also work on projects to make Lexus customers happier and help our dealers do a better job. I work with many different teams to make sure Lexus is doing well, and I often visit our car dealerships. Every day, I make reports, work on projects, go to meetings, and talk with people involved in our business.
Skills
I've learned a lot this year, especially about how businesses really work. This has helped me understand my college studies much better. I've also gotten much better at dealing with different people involved in projects. I wouldn't have learned this as well without my work experience. My skills in looking at information and explaining things to others have also improved. I use spreadsheets every day, make important reports, and create presentations for myself and my bosses to show others.
Responsibilities
During my work placement, I got to do many different jobs. For example, I made reports, gave presentations, and led meetings about an important project. We also had to do a special task called PDCA, where we had to take charge of a big project on our own. We had to lead it ourselves and learn how to show our work both in writing and by talking about it. The company also liked it when we asked for more work if we felt ready to handle it.
Support & Guidance
Toyota is really good at helping its workers learn. They tell you it's okay to ask for help whenever you need it. When you work on a big project called Plan Do Check Act, they give you another student manager to help you. This person gives you good advice about your project. Toyota thinks it's very important to help its workers. When you work in teams, you can see that everyone is happy to help each other. This makes it easy to ask for help when you need it.
Culture
Toyota is a really nice place to work. The main office is great, and the bosses are very friendly. They really care about helping their workers grow and learn. I've had many chances to talk to and give presentations to big bosses like General Managers and Directors. Everyone is friendly and wants to help each other. We've had lots of fun company events throughout the year, like meetings where they tell us what's going on, a fireworks show, and a Christmas party.
Your Impressions
I really loved my year working at Toyota. It was even better than I thought it would be. I got to do way more things than I expected. I went to lots of events and was given much more important work than I thought I'd get. They treated me like a real team member, not just a student. I learned a lot about what it's really like to work in the car industry.
Yes
If you want to work at Toyota, I suggest you learn about how the company thinks and works, and where it came from. When you apply for a job, be honest about who you are. Toyota likes having all kinds of different people working for them. I also think it's a good idea to move near the main office. It's a nice place to live, and it's easy to get into the center of London from there. This makes weekends really fun.
