Overview
On a day-to-day basis I support my colleagues with their admin tasks. Additionally, I am a 180 recruiter so I find, register and place candidates into roles we currently have on our desk for the Insurance industry. This involves calling them and interviewing them to find if they are suitable for the role, then putting their CV into the Hays format and sending them out to clients in hopes of getting them interviews with the end goal to place them in that role.
Skills
I have developed my communication skills by working within a team and collaborating with my colleagues to find out what jobs they have on so I can send them over suitable candidates. I have also developed my organisational skills as it is a very fast paced desk so I need to be organised and ensure I complete all tasks I am asked to do in a timely and efficient manner. I have learnt many new skills so far throughout this process including how to operate all the internal Hays systems we use to find candidates and log activity.
Responsibilities
Yes, from the very first day I was given the responsibility of calling candidates and finding out if they were currently looking for new roles and interviewing them. So far throughout my placement I have been given more and more responsibility as the weeks go on and I become more experienced in certain tasks.
Support & Guidance
We have been provided with lots of training to aid our development and constant support and guidance was provided by my Line Manager and colleagues as they were always happy to help if I had any questions about a certain task.
Culture
The company culture and general atmosphere is very friendly and sociable, I was extremely welcomed throughout my time here and really enjoyed the social side.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed my placement year as I have gained a wealth of knowledge within my industry as well as developing key skills that I can take with me into my future career. It has been really insightful and I am glad I joined Hays for my placement year and would really recommend it to anyone looking to apply.
Yes
Hays is a really inclusive and friendly company to work for, my piece of advice would be to be yourself and take every opportunity that presents itself to you.
