Overview
I completed a two-week training program focused on full-stack development skills, including introduction to software developing cycles, IDEs, languages, and frameworks. Post-training, I have been actively involved in various projects, each of which presented unique technology sets, challenges and learning opportunities. I have been collaborating with many helpful and friendly colleagues in the team, who have guided me through uncertainties and encouraged my independent problem-solving.
Skills
The various projects I worked on exposed me to the wide range of techniques used, improving my ability of understanding and providing well-encapsulated, maintainable and self-documenting code on a large scale. I enhanced necessary technical skills as a full-stack engineer, and am also more confident in my ability of quickly learning and applying the new technology I learn in the new projects, while communicating clearly with my peers to complete the tasks as planned.
Responsibilities
After my training, I worked as a junior developer doing full-stack developing and supporting work, guided by my technical mentor. This includes adding new features, fixing bugs, doing tests, and reviewing others' codes.
Support & Guidance
I received plenty of help from my mentor, line manager and peers in the team. I also had weekly catch-ups with my managers, which provided me with feedback that had helped me a lot in my personal development.
Culture
Regarding to work, the team values innovation, collaboration, and excellence. I attended various workshops, biweekly inspiring talks, and developer forums. It was great to see the company is also keeping a foundation to help and contribute to the community. The team had a friendly, diverse and open culture. I experienced a good life-work balance during my placement, attending morale activities like a boat trip, holidays in the forests, and several office parties etc.
Your Impressions
I am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of the Ghyston team and look forward to applying the knowledge I have gained in the future. It has been an invaluable and enjoyable experience that has significantly contributed to my personal and professional growth.
Yes
The problem-solving skills and innovation solutions are highly valued. I'd recommend keeping an active way of thinking, and always absorb new knowledges. (And, be a clean coder.)
