    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I worked on C++ infrastructure used by other teams. My work day start off with a daily standup where we discuss what was done yesterday and what we'll be doing that day. I would then be doing lots of coding or design work for my project. There were also weekly meetings with my mentor and team lead.

  • Yes, I was the point of contact for my project and my mentor and team lead gave me freedom to explore different solutions to the problem we had.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company is very transparent with a flat structure. Networking is very encouraged and people were genuinely interested in what I was doing. Everybody was inclusive and even though I was an intern, people were still listening and respected my opinions.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Bloomberg
  • The interviewers care more about how you think and how you communicate with them than actually answering their questions perfectly. The questions I was asked don't have a clear best answer, but it was more about trade-offs and seeing if I can spot them.
