Overview
I worked on C++ infrastructure used by other teams. My work day start off with a daily standup where we discuss what was done yesterday and what we'll be doing that day. I would then be doing lots of coding or design work for my project. There were also weekly meetings with my mentor and team lead.
Skills
I've learned a lot about C++, Docker and best practices for DevOps.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was the point of contact for my project and my mentor and team lead gave me freedom to explore different solutions to the problem we had.
Support & Guidance
There's a lot of support, both internal documentation and trainings, but also from my mentor and team lead.
Culture
The company is very transparent with a flat structure. Networking is very encouraged and people were genuinely interested in what I was doing. Everybody was inclusive and even though I was an intern, people were still listening and respected my opinions.
Your Impressions
I absolutely loved it. This was the best internship I've had so far.
Yes
The interviewers care more about how you think and how you communicate with them than actually answering their questions perfectly. The questions I was asked don't have a clear best answer, but it was more about trade-offs and seeing if I can spot them.
