    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Support varied on a person to person basis. I worked primarily with a final year apprentice and a few senior managers, however I was involved in meetings and projects with directors and senior directors. The insight and support I received was excellent. I was taught how to complete basic and slightly more complex audit procedures and tasks, I was given help and explanations for any tasks that I could not do. Some projects I worked on included billion dollar enterprises that were being audited, I was able to better understand the audit process from beginning to end.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned/developed a number of skills especially in excel, managing interfaces such as SAP/ SAP concur, developing technology skills using AI tools and internal analysis tools. KPMG also offered a number of certificate courses that the vast majority of interns completed in AI, Data analytics, Coding, and Cloud Computing (just to name a few).

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • It was insightful and fun, KPMG was very supportive of us and invested a lot of time and money in allowing us to excel. For example, we got to visit three of their offices in England and Scotland - giving us a better understanding of how a global firm such as KPMG functions. There were also a number of talks given by partners in regard to the various capabilities offered at KPMG, however, I personally did not think they were that insightful.
