Overview
My role was very varied which was great as it meant that I got to do and see lots of different areas of the business. Day to day I mainly created powerpoint slides, conducted customer research and introduced gamification into multiple areas at Travelport.
Skills
I learnt how to present, conduct thorough research, interact with others in the office, network.
Responsibilities
My team were amazing and gave me lots of responsibility which was amazing as I got involved with lots of different things. However the intern side of things was not so good as we were not given as much freedom and were often made to certain things rather than be given the responsibility, It often felt like the Intern panel didn't trust us with the work we produced and we would have to be constantly checked on.
Support & Guidance
The guidance from my CX team was brilliant and I always had somebody to look out for me and help if I needed it. The team could not have been better and I am hugely grateful to have worked with such a great team. The intern panel however were far less supportive and once our Intern lead was made redundant it was near to none. I felt that my team we having to do the job that the intern panel should really have been doing.
Culture
Great company culture! Wear what you want and everyone is lovely...
Your Impressions
I had a great year as my team and my fellow interns made it amazing. I would recommend it to people however I would encourage people to be aware that was was promised on the intern side of things may not be accurate. Many of things which were spoken about early in the year never seemed to materialise. We were supposed to go abroad to do fundraising, we were meant to present our ideas to a big company, we were supposed to work closely with local charities to fundraise. By the end of the year we had done very little of these things....
Yes
Enjoy as it's a great company, however be aware that it is an ageing company with predominantly people aged between 35-60. It's good fun however often things can be promised but not fulfilled.
