    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I look into the market and find competitive rates for both commercial and company proprietary parts/ materials, ensuring that the products/ services we receive deliver on cost, quality and scheduling. On a day to day basis, I send Request for Quotation documents to suppliers and evaluate who has the best offers based on price, Lead Time and order quantities. I work with various pricing tools and data bases to help me make informed decisions before executing purchases

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • My placement involved training while on the job where I essentially was trained how to use various tools and databases through executing and issuing out actual purchase orders. I had someone in a senior position watching what I was doing as I attempted to complete data analysis before being slowly left to complete small projects by myself. Now, I can complete large projects purely by myself and am trusted to do so ONLY after it became apparent that I was capable of doing so

  • During placement, I was guided through every step of the training process and beyond. my manager as well as the rest of the team were all very open to hearing and answering any questions I have and they were all one phone call away.
