Overview
Daily role varies and is adaptable to suit your individual learning style. On the 12-month placement you can expect three 4-month long rotations in locations guided by your own interest.
Skills
Company immersion is definitely one of the key benefits. Working for the largest defence manufacturer in Europe, it is no surprise that the level of work and competency of colleagues is on another level. I'd advise making the most of their expertise.
Responsibilities
It is crucial that you have a good initiative when working, and this is something BAES helps with too. I would say that in such a busy environment if you aren't willing to step out of your comfort zone, then you will likely not be given much responsibility. On the other hand, all work is comprehensive and they rarely give you menial tasks.
Support & Guidance
There are endless resources provided to you from very early in the recruitment process. This is continued throughout the duration of your employment.
Culture
Security and work processes follow very strict rules and regulations. This is to be taken extremely seriously, but plenty of training is provided. I found that this bolsters respect within the offices and actually allows for a slightly more relaxed environment than I initially expected.
Your Impressions
As of writing this I am in month 4 of 12 of my placement. It has gone by in an absolute flash and I have had nothing but positive experiences thus far.
Yes
Make yourself stand out for the right reasons. Their expectations are clear in the job description and, particularly for early careers, they want to see passion/ambition.
