  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I was in the Global Indirects team, working on a legal tender and assisting the team on other smaller projects. Using excel, PowerPoint and company applications. Doing e-learning to learn about the business and procurement specific processes.

  • Learnt lots of excel skills, presentation and PowerPoint building skills. Team working and communicating with stakeholders and suppliers

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given responsibility over certain tasks to complete within wider projects. Was not given my own project but other students on longer placements were. Ownership of my work, taking initiative

  • Lots of support from my line manager and business coordinator as well as members of my team who took the time to teach me lots. There was also available support from others and early careers if I had needed it

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Very friendly people, sense of community and working together. People are nice and will take time to teach you. There are lots of graduates/interns/placement students in the company so the culture is very focussed towards learning and development

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • Really enjoyed it, felt like I was a part of the team and contributed to the work. Lots of different things to work on and flexible to decide what to do so wasn’t boring. Nice team members and manager also

  • Show that you’ve researched the company, look on linked in as they have a lot on there for up to date info. Be kind and outspoken for doing they right thing and a willingness to learn is more important than having the right qualifications
