Overview
While working within the Digital Marketing team, I had the opportunity to input my ideas and opinions in a variation of team meetings and other key internal business stakeholders conversations on a daily basis. The role allowed me to co-ordinate updates to both Toyota and Lexus websites to ensure that key information and product details are regularly kept up to date. I was able to see these updates through to completion. Alongside this I worked on multiple projects, which helped me to build relationships with colleagues from all Toyota entities and also work with external agencies!
Skills
While on placement I built upon on my communication and time management skills. As often there were tight deadlines and a variation of stakeholders involved within a project. I was able to learn to plan and adjust to busy periods, as often i had to juggle multiple tasks within the same time frame. Therefore, I had the opportunity to work on prioritisation and managing stakeholders expectations when required.
Responsibilities
While on placement at Toyota, I often lead my own projects with the support of my manager and other team members. Working on both Toyota and Lexus websites, I helped to update key model pages inline with product launches. I often worked with a variation of Toyota entities (Toyota Financial Services, KINTO, Toyota Insurance), to see through launches of key services, insurance products and model pricing offer updates. Overall, I felt that I had a large amount of responsibility within projects and felt my opinions / ideas were valued by my team and other areas of the business.
Support & Guidance
I received a large amount of support and guidance from my manager and team. I had 2x 30 min 121s with my line manager per week, where i had the opportunity to ask questions and show progress of project briefs. I was largely supported with feedback and my workload was regularly monitored. We also had a weekly team meeting which helped me to understand other projects that were being carried out within the team and to learn of the up coming weeks priorities.
Culture
The general atmosphere of the company was really positive and welcoming. With many colleagues offering support and guidance when seeing through projects.
Your Impressions
I really valued my time at Toyota and was able to gain strong skills, that I will continue to build upon throughout my future career. As there was around 20 other placement students I found this helped me to settle in easier. My team were really supportive and helped to answer any questions. Particularly, when taking on the additional Lexus workload. However, my placement year often had busy periods with short deadlines. With multiple tasks needing to be juggled for both brands within the same period.
Yes
Advice I would give, is to practice online interviews and psychometric tests. It would also help to build knowledge of both the Toyota and Lexus brand, and familiarise yourself with both websites.
