Overview
I worked as a Capital Markets intern within a national team for a specific asset class. On a daily basis I would attend several meetings (client meetings, bidding meetings, team meetings, networking); produce client materials (brochures, maps); and create materials to assist JLL (proformas, residual valuations via Excel and Argus). Alongside working for my team, I also had to work on a group project with the other interns.
Skills
Both. The majority of new skills I have learnt are associated with applications e.g. use of Edozo, Argus Developer, Excel. Yet, I also learnt how to negotiate and communicate with other agents for industry specific information.
Responsibilities
Yes, in the sense that I created lots of client materials that were distributed to agents and clients, I also generated lots of materials for JLL that were routinely used. Additionally, I spoke many agents for comparables and sat in on meetings. However, I rarely attended in person inspections/ meetings.
Support & Guidance
The support and guidance was very good. HR carried out several talks, social events and training activities throughout the internship. I also had an assigned buddy to talk to outside of my team- this was very useful for introductions across different departments and for general questions, putting you at ease.
Culture
The company culture was friendly. Everyone would socialise across departments. There are lots of sports teams and events weekly.
Your Impressions
Very enjoyable. Nice people. Varied pace.
