Overview
- Learning the importance of safety and quality in BAE System’s aerospace and defence products to ensure the safeguarding of lives. - Played a key role in implementing automation initiatives to enhance the Hardware Engineering lifecycle for products. - Honed field-specific skills such as 3D printing, PCB routing, and various softwares.
Skills
While university studied are crucial to laying strong foundations for theoretical knowledge, to become a well-rounded engineer it’s crucial to gain real-world experience from an internship such as this. The supportive culture of BAE System proves the best grounds for cultivating experience and career growth and throughout my internship I strongly built my engineering skills.
Responsibilities
I was given a key role in implementing systems to automate product lifecycles stages and often consisting of liaising with lead engineers.
Support & Guidance
I was given a lot of technical and career-specific support from my line manager and supervisor, and of course support with other aspects from HR and the graduate recruitment team. I felt very comfortable to bring any issues to the table as someone in the company would always listen.
Culture
The culture is very supportive as everyone pushes each other to be creative and think outside the box.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the my placement and I really value the skills that the company has taught me as these will lay the foundations of my engineering career.
Yes
Be yourself, don’t hesitate to ask any sort of question, even the ones you think are really basic as the company really values questions being asked. Make sure you have an attitude to not only grow yourself, but also the people around you.
