Overview
Depending on the role, assisting the analysts on different deals, this may include: financial models, slide decks, analysis, research. individual research and analysis is given relating to a deal.
Skills
Yes most definitely. Communication and team working was developed massively, while new skills such as statement analysis and basic financial modelling was learnt.
Responsibilities
Most of the time, there were some points where not much responsibility was given but that was 20% of times. The responsibility given was crucial to understanding and helping with the current deals.
Support & Guidance
We received a line manager and a ‘buddy’, the line manager was who we reported too, while the buddy was a graduate surveyor who would answer any question you may have. We were also able to talk to the very committed and responsive HR
Culture
Very energetic with sport activity happening around the office. Lunches were a fantastic way to network with everyone being nice and friendly. The directors were accommodating and informative.
Your Impressions
The internship provided amazing exposure to the capital markets industry while teaching the basic skills required. The social events were meaningful provided plenty of opportunities to network. My team were helpful and accommodating.
Yes
Try gain an understanding to your given role , for example if you were to work within the equity advisory side, understand that having a basic idea of accounting is crucial to your work and financial modelling is a big aspect.
