Insight Programme participant Review

The day-to-day was varied. In the first week we completed skills sessions and learned about the firm itself, often alongside other offices via teams. We also visited another office for a day to complete an in person session with them. In the second week I shadowed a trainee in their work for the week, and finally created my own presentation for assessment. I was in the real estate practice area.

Yes to both. I had never had such a comprehensive insight into a firm before and improved my skills with people as well as my understanding of the legal sphere. I noticed a definite improvement in my confidence and communication alongside my knowledge of the structure of the firm, how it runs as a business and the general practice of law.

I found learning about the business one of the most interesting parts of my experience: it felt like true ‘insider’ knowledge and improved my insight. Learning about potential roles available enhanced my motivation even further as I’m sure it did for all of the participants. I could envisage myself fitting into the firm.

The culture and atmosphere of the company was warm and inclusive. Everyone, especially the trainee I shadowed, was incredibly helpful and willing to answer any query I had. The firm definitely places a lot of emphasis on the importance of people skills and that was demonstrated throughout. I also recognised that the culture translated to the other office we visited too.

I enjoyed the insight very much. I left feeling very accomplished and completely motivated for the future. I was very impressed with every aspect of the firm that I was fortunate enough to engage in and also got along well with my fellow participants. Every day I came into the office excited for the day ahead and the new experiences I would encounter.

To research the firm itself as much as possible and keep up to date with the main themes of the legal sphere so that you can demonstrate your passion, capability and dedication. Be authentic and confident: don’t let nerves or apprehensions get the better of you.
