Overview
The Summer Vacation Scheme began with a firmwide induction. I then received training on Microsoft Excel and Deloitte's audit platforms. When I was assigned to my audit engagement, my day-to-day task was completing a tie through. I also took meeting minutes and delivered a presentation. I also took part in the "SVS Central Development" sessions throughout the scheme which covered advice on how to improve key skills.
Skills
Yes, the Summer Vacation Scheme allowed me to develop many interpersonal skills such as communication and teamwork, as well as technology skills like using Microsoft Excel. I also gained a much stronger understanding of audit, improving my industry knowledge.
Business Insight
Learning about Deloitte and the different roles within audit was very interesting and everything was clearly explained. The firmwide induction and first week of training were particularly useful for this. Overall, the Summer Vacation Scheme helped me confirm that audit is the career that I wish to pursue!
Culture
The company culture and general atmosphere were very supportive and inclusive! I felt that I was always able to ask questions which was instrumental in my growth throughout the Summer Vacation Scheme. Additionally, I had the opportunity to meet many new people through networking.

The firmwide induction and training provided a great introduction, and the tasks I was given were interesting and enjoyable, especially since my team was so supportive. By the end of the scheme, I learned and developed various new skills, improved my understanding of audit, and expanded my professional network.
