Overview
My tasks varied day to day. My main project was analysis Practice Starts but my job included competitor analysis and writing reports. I also worked with the Driver Academy which included assisting in simulator sessions and writing reports on the sessions. During races I would help with transcribing and video clipping.
Skills
My Matlab skills improved a lot during my summer placement. I learnt how to use Atlas, Nexus and Racewatch. Learning how to write reports and present your work was perhaps the most useful skill I learnt
Responsibilities
I was only at Williams for 10 weeks, but I felt I was given a lot of responsibility.
Support & Guidance
I was very lucky that there were 3 Industrial Placement students also working in vehicle performance, so they gave me a lot of support and guidance. My managers were also very willing to sit down and help with anything I needed
Culture
It was great. The team I worked for was very close and welcoming. The atmosphere at the company is truly special, unlike anything I've experienced before. Everyone is so enthusiastic and passionate about the work they do, and that energy is contagious. It creates a positive environment where you actually want to be there and contribute as much as possible. It truly feels like a team.
Your Impressions
I had an amazing time. For me, working at Williams was always a dream and the whole experience did not disappoint.
