Overview
Mostly CAD based. Day is spend refining technical briefs, multidisciplinary communication across the business depending on the project, and designing components to fit the brief. Feedback is then often collected on parts to evaluate their success.
Skills
Improved my Siemens NX skills, MATLAB skills and general technical skills as well as soft skills working in a large organisation
Responsibilities
Lots of responsibility is given to students and they are expected to work quite independently from the start ( but are given lots of help and training where required )
Support & Guidance
A reasonable amount of support and guidance was given, however at times this could have been improved due to staff capacity to give time to the student.
Culture
Very nice, supportive and friendly culture. One of the highlights of working here
Your Impressions
To a high extent, really enjoyed the placement from start to finish!
Yes
Try to get a reasonable understanding of an f1 car and the working mechanics of the systems involved, keep working hard in your degree and the standout feature for you as an individual is your personality, being interested in engineering and showing this goes a long way!
