Overview
The role is very similar to what happens in case interviews. You are presented with a problem and are expected to make a recommendation. You need to understand and evaluate various aspects of the problem, use SQL to work on datasets, identify patterns, use Excel to visualise data, and present recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Skills
SQL coding, presentation and communication skills.
Responsibilities
Yes! You are given complete ownership of your work/project. It's on you to network, work through the problem, and fare well in the internship.
Support & Guidance
I am not pleased with the support and guidance received. Even after having a mentor, manager, and buddy, I felt unsupported and had to rely on myself to learn everything and progress. Since you are judged at every meeting, felt intimidating to express concerns. Also, no proper guidance was provided by mentor during the initial phase of the internship.
Culture
I liked the company culture and the general atmosphere. Felt free and unrestricted. Also, there are events happening almost every other day, feels like there's always something going on.
Your Impressions
I was really stressed during the initial phase of my internship as I did not receive proper guidance from my manager, mentor, and buddy. Little did I know that I was being evaluated at every meeting and felt intimidated to even ask questions to understand better.
Yes
1) You are evaluated every day, so please plan ahead what you'd be discussing in every meeting. 2) Have a basic understanding of SQL before as the training provided is not sufficient. 3) Treat your project as a case study and always ask questions about every aspect. 4) Do not rely on buddy, mentor, manager as you cannot expect support and are marked negative for asking too many concerns.
