  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • In this internship, I enhanced the Partnership’s online presence by updating the website, analysing social media channels, and recommending improvements. Daily tasks included creating and posting content, identifying relevant stories, and collaborating with both the internal team and external partners to ensure cohesive messaging. I developed guidelines to help the team use social media effectively and monitored engagement metrics to refine strategies, aiming to boost visibility and engagement across all platforms.

  • Yes, I developed several skills throughout this internship. I strengthened my digital marketing skills, particularly in social media strategy, by learning to analyse engagement metrics and refine content to match audience interests. I also enhanced my web content management skills, making strategic website improvements within a structured system. Additionally, I improved my communication and collaboration abilities by coordinating content with internal teams and external partners, and guiding team members on social media best practices.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, I was given significant responsibility. I led key initiatives, such as assessing and improving the Partnership’s website and developing a more strategic social media presence. I had autonomy in creating and scheduling content, analyzing engagement metrics, and making recommendations for new channels. Additionally, I coordinated directly with external partners and guided team members on social media best practices, allowing me to contribute meaningfully to the Partnership’s overall communication strategy.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a good amount of support and guidance throughout my internship. My manager provided initial direction on the Partnership’s goals and priorities, which helped me understand the framework and expectations. Regular check-ins allowed me to discuss my progress, receive feedback, and refine my approach. At the same time, I was given enough autonomy to take initiative, make recommendations, and implement changes, which helped me build confidence and develop my skills independently.

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture was collaborative, supportive, and open to new ideas. Team members were approachable and encouraged sharing creative suggestions, which made the environment welcoming. The atmosphere was professional yet relaxed. Regular meetings and open communication channels helped foster a sense of connection and alignment with goals, making it easy to reach out for feedback or assistance. Overall, it was a positive and motivating environment.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my internship. It offered a great mix of responsibilities, allowing me to develop new skills and make meaningful contributions to the Partnership’s online presence. I appreciated the balance between creative freedom and supportive guidance, which helped me grow both professionally and personally. Collaborating with a motivated and friendly team, combined with the opportunity to see the impact of my work in real-time, made the experience both rewarding.
