    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Daily stand-up meetings where tasks completed the previous day and plans for the day ahead were discussed. I would pick up testing tickets and sync with developers, create a test plan and carry out testing of the feature developed. This was usually some manual testing and sometimes adding a regression test / end to end test.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I learnt a lot about testing, this was a new practice to me so I learnt about different testing approaches and practices and when to apply them. I learnt how to alter jenkins plans and how to add a typescript end to end test.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • The guidance and support provided in my internship was good, in each team I had a 'buddy' who had the same job role as me, so I could ask them for support or ask queries from them. I also had a mentor throughout, to help me with career guidance. I met with my manager on a biweekly basis, so had an option to ask for support frequently

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I had a good time on my placement year, and found it to be a nice introduction to the world of work. I feel as though some days I didn't have much work to do, but that was an issue more of workload spread in my department rather than a company wide issue
