The Role
I had a fantastic year at IBM, gaining a wide range of valuable experiences that will most definitely help me when I start my graduate career and in the future. I worked with some great people and I have made many valuable connections.
Due to the amount of responsibility I had, I felt very valued by my colleagues.
There was always help and support if I needed it, it was very rare to find an IBMer who wouldn't help you. However, I did work as part of a team that was spread over the UK, so sometimes I only saw my manager once a week.
It is in your hands to manage your year at IBM, many people will say they had no responsibility and nothing to do. This partially the case when I started, but I made it my personal goal to make as much work for myself as possible and take advantage of the wide range of experiences available.
I would have liked more responsibility when I started but I was proactive in making work for myself and getting onto projects.
There is a wide range of experiences available, you just have to be motivated to go and get it.

I have applied back to the Graduate scheme, but there are limited positions to choose from.
The Culture
There was a great group of people in the South Bank office who went on nights out and social events every week.
Central London is NOT CHEAP, look for happy hour and student deals.
Its London, an endless supply of places to go and things to see.
We do something called Giveback at IBM. This is doing something for the company or community outside of your job role. You can do things like, presenting at Universities about IBM, work at careers fairs, teach in a school. Anything you can think of......
