    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Each day was different, I worked across different departments within the organisation. This made everyday exciting and maximised my learning opportunities. My role was to assist and so I would be emailed my schedule and who I was working with for each day and then would assist them with their projects. Sometimes this was running Artroom sessions, sometimes this was cataloguing, and sometimes this was installing artwork.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have certainly developed my interpersonal skills as I was able to prove to myself I am more than capable with working with lots of different people and keeping on top of all my commitments. The internship was also great practice for my time management skills as I was juggling multiple shifts plus my other job and all of my university assignments.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a lot of autonomy during the internship and felt that it was tailored to me. Because the internship is short, it’s not realistic to be given full responsibility of any projects but I did feel trusted and competent in all the tasks I completed, I did not feel like there was any hand holding or micromanaging.
